Performance — we strive for more

What will you be doing?

We’re seeking a talented individual to join our Audit Team in the Thames Valley.  The Thames Valley office is a new venture for the firm and therefore you will play a key role in developing the team, culture, and client base in the area. This is a unique opportunity and requires an individual with the energy and drive to lead through that growth phase and beyond. You will work closely with the local Partner in all aspects of developing and implementing our offering in the Thames Valley. This will include contributing to the strategic direction of the office, and recruitment into, and leadership of, the team. In addition, you will play a key role in developing the office’s market proposition, as well as a personal marketing approach and your own target list and opportunities. You will also be expected to act as RI on a small portfolio of clients, and support delivery on some larger/complex existing clients alongside the wider team in order to support your technical development and understanding of the firm methodology. This would be a relatively small element of the role initially. The delivery element will increase as the business grows and you develop your own portfolio as a Responsible Individual, and will continue to be alongside a longer-term leadership role.

As Director, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • To develop and carry out a continuous marketing programme that delivers further work for the firm.

Team Management

  • Support a range of staff working on client engagements, ensuring that they are clear about the functions required, properly trained and receive appropriate feedback.
  • To delegate appropriate work to more junior staff, including managers, aiding their development
  • Department Administration - monitoring of qualified and student bookings and workloads to ensure the most efficient use of resources. Liaison with junior staff to assess any issues that need dealing with.

Client Contact

  • To ensure that clients receive an efficient and proactive service and client expectations are exceeded throughout the year. Liaison with client Partners and other Evelyn Partners staff where appropriate to ensure all are kept up to date with relevant issues.
  • To add value to the client relationship, identifying and developing opportunities to improve the clients’ businesses and/or develop additional services for Evelyn Partners (costs/fees).
  • Manage client billing and margins effectively.

Technical

  • Audit strategy and setting budgets - awareness of commercial aspects of the client’s businesses and impact on our work.
  • Review colleagues’ work in accordance with Evelyn Partners audit and assignment procedures and provide technical advice/support where necessary in order to support signing opinions.

Training and development

  • To ensure assessment forms are completed and feedback given to staff on all jobs.  Ensuring appropriate in-house and external training received personally.
  • On-the-job coaching and development of key team members.

To be successful in this role, you should have:
